Current Projects

We ring the changes with our projects, changing to something different when they start getting tired or we get new young people who want to do something different. Below is what we are doing currently but this is constantly changing. 

The aim of all our projects is to engage. Through the projects we aim to develop soft skills - conversation (without swearing), teamwork, concern for others, concern for the environment, consideration, good manners, fitness and health, independence, ability to ask questions, developing aspirations, awareness of a wider world.

Whatever the project our day always begins with a period of numerary and literacy in which all take part at some level. The year 11's will take Functional skills exams during their time with us.

Autumn term 2019

Monday outdoor education 

The John Muir Award is an environmental award, it is non competitive, inclusive and accessible.

We aim to use the John Muir Award to engage and create a better awareness of the area that our young people live in and how they can enjoy it while learning. We want them to connect and learn about how they can make a change to their environment while having a learning adventure discovering a wild place and how they can contribute to looking after it.

Tuesday sports

Asdan Sports Award

Tuesday and Thursday are both designated sports days. This gives anyone referring young people to us that would benefit from a sports day the opportunity to adjust timetables to a more bespoke one. 

Wednesday cooking 

Asdan Food Wise provides the opportunity to develop young peoples knowledge and cooking skills and how to use them effectively.

The young people choosing  the food course will be able to build on any cooking skills they may have or simply learn how to cook. Starting with some cake baking we move onto planning a meal for the whole group the requires planning a meal that everyone will eat, shopping for ingredients while following the budget they have been given. The course not only encourages cooking it also gives clear heath & hygiene training along providing skills for life. We also add some sport in throughout the course linking fitness and healthy eating effectively.

Thursday sports

Asdan Sports Award

A time to try different sports. Each term will vary to allow for the weather, and interest and abilities of the group. When its fine we get outdoors using local parks, when its not we use sports halls. We will look at the rules of each sport to make sure everyone can get involved and know what they are doing. Alongside this we will look at healthy eating and how to combine sports and food to achieve a healthy lifestyle. The sports do vary and we often add something different such as Kimball or water polo. Sport should be fun and engaging while improving fitness, we aim to offer a programme that will achieve this.

Asdan Employability skills

"In  increasingly competitive employment markets employers are looking beyond simple academic achievement when considering applicants for a job or internship"

CBI (Conference of British Industry)

The employability course will improve knowledge and  understanding of working environments and the skills needed in the workplace.

We will cover what is expected of people when they are at work, the skills that are important in the workplace, improve currents skills and have a "what's next "plan. No one is too young to start thinking about a career path.

Off site

At Respect4us we recognise that everyone needs a variety of experiences to enable them to build skills. By creating opportunities for learning outside of the classroom we feel we offer everyone  who attends our provision the chance to find  new skills, enjoyment or even face challenges which give them a sense of achievement.

Consent forms

Once someone is referred  to Respect4us a pack is sent home with relevant forms that will need to be signed and returned to us. We follow the Norfolk County Council regulations, all schools can track off site activities via their own Evolve system.

No hidden cost

All activities are tied into the different projects for each day of the week. Respect4us never passes on the cost of anything to either their home school or a parent. If we plan something we cover the costs. We are aware that asking others to cover the costs of  any activity can cause financial strain so we plan according to our budget.
